Morozov hospital surgeons saved a child's lung using a 3D printer. Doctors discovered a rare pathology in a three-year-old baby - his blood vessels intertwined in such a way that the bronchus was literally sandwiched between them. The prognosis was extremely unfavorable - even German surgeons, to whom the boy's family turned for advice, offered to remove the damaged lung. However, thanks to a 3D printed model of a child's lung, Russian surgeons managed to free the trapped organ. Without such a model, it would be impossible to perform the operation - doctors would have to make large incisions, thus critically increasing the risk of complications. However, with a “visual 3D aid”, the surgeons were able to perform the intervention without a scalpel - through three small punctures. Doctors from the Kulakov National Medical Center saved the unborn child from disability. Together with surgeons from Brazil, Russian doctors performed spinal surgery on an embryo at the 25th week of pregnancy. 2.5 months after the unique operation, a girl weighing 2200 g was born. The doctors did not find any complications after the surgical intervention in the baby. Successful implantation of an artificial ventricle of the heart was carried out by doctors from the Sklifosovsky Medical Research Institute. During a five-hour operation, the 55-year-old patient with severe congestive heart failure underwent implantation of a left ventricular bypass using a new generation of Russian circulatory assist system. Such an operation was carried out for the first time in Russia. Previously, the only method for the treatment of such severe heart pathologies was only a whole organ transplant.
